The Gender Ads Project

Advertising, Education, Activism

Race
Background: Although other exhibits of the Gender Ads Project focus on the intersections of race, gender and advertising, I am interested in developing the theme of race as its own exhibit. The Ads: The ads below focus on the disturbing work created by advertisers. Discussion Questions: (1) In what ways does race intersect with gender in the world of advertising? (2) How have images of race in advertising changed over the years? (3) Do images of race in advertising reflect similar cultural and political origins as the images of gender and advertising?
